We brought together Principals and APs/DPs for our fifth Principals’ Forum in Nov 2021.
This session was open to all Principals and Assistant Principals. Come to future meetings to discuss, share, and ask our panel about their school improvement journeys.
About the Panel
Bentleigh West Primary School
Steven Capp, Principal
Steven Capp is the Principal of Bentleigh West Primary School in Melbourne, which has become recognised for its adoption of evidence- based teaching practices, particularly in the area of reading and mathematics. He has worked across the primary and secondary school sectors as an educational leader for the past 15 years. He has a Masters of School Leadership from Melbourne University and has worked with school leaders to explore bridging the gap from research to practice.
Sarah Asome, Assistant Principal
Sarah Asome is the Assistant Principal at Bentleigh West Primary School in Victoria and a dyslexia specialist. She has been instrumental in leading the change at BWPS but also supporting many colleagues state and nationwide in implementing evidence based literacy instruction in their schools. This has led to a significant increase in literacy and numeracy levels which now places BWPS as a high performing school.
In 2015, She was awarded ‘Outstanding Primary Teacher in the VEEA awards. She previously appeared in “Outside the Square ‘a DVD resource for teachers and in 2017 appeared on Insight – ‘A teacher Who Changed My Life’. Sarah has completed numerous courses including; Louisa Moat’s LETRS training, Dyslexia Action (UK), Associate training with Australian Dyslexia Association and is a Certified Dyslexia, Reading and Orton-Gillingham specialist and trainer for Australia (OGI international inc).
