How do you listen to your students read?
If you no longer use benchmarking systems in literacy instruction, how do you listen to your students read?
Karen Woods from Templestowe Heights Primary School wrote a TFE Journal article about this common dilemma facing teachers. This webinar will expand on the ideas in the article and Karen will be available for questions.
Karen describes her her evolution from running book groups, which were time-consuming and inefficient, to using more effective methods to get students to read out loud.
Karen also talks about how she uses shared reading, choral reading, and paired reading - techniques that can be used in any classroom, regardless of the means of instruction. Karen also specifies the norms in place in her classroom for each method to ensure success.
The Journal of Think Forward Educators is available to professional members. Read Karen's article and the April edition of the journal here.
