Dr Dean Goldspink, Principal

Since 2017, Ellen Stirling Primary School have been having an unrelenting push to change classroom teacher pedagogy to Explicit Direct Instruction with new learning concept delivery. Led by Principal Dr Dean Goldspink, the School has also implemented various literacy direct instruction programs in an attempt to lift the achievement level of literacy across the school and build capacity in our various cohorts of students.

Executive staff and teaching staff continue to work hard to engage students daily, whilst emphasising attendance, behaviour and a positive learning environment to back the School’s Moral Purpose: Ellen Stirling Primary School will provide a safe, enriched learning and teaching environment driven by high expectations for success.

NAPLAN and PAT testing continues to show improvement since 2017.

David MacSporran, Principal

David MacSporran is the Principal of Yates Avenue Public School in western Sydney. He will be joined by Assistant Principals Shani Gale and Jacinta Richards on the panel.

Yates Avenue has a clear vision for evidence-based teaching practices and continuous improvement for all staff. David and the leadership team led a stellar review of their school model at the second NSW Branch Meeting in April 2021.

For this event, we are excited to hear more about the school’s views on how the science of learning and Explicit Direct Instruction has informed their school improvement journey.
